About Jayco (UK) Limited
Jayco
was founded in 1971, by the late Jim Cooney, who was in fact a welder by
profession, having learnt his trade at the mighty Swan Hunter
shipyard on the Tyne, back in the 1950s.
In later
years, Jim turned his attention to a problem which had
frustrated him for some time - why was the standard of welder's
gloves in the UK so poor? After much time and effort, Jim
managed to source a manufacturer of much higher quality welder's
gloves, which he began to supply in small quantities to a
limited number of more discerning welding distributors. Indeed,
back in these early days, the initial stock was stored in the
family garage!
Gradually word spread, and from
these humble beginnings, Jayco has evolved into the UK's
foremost specialist supplier of a small range of better quality
gloves for the welding and engineering profession, which through our
Ultima® brand are
now widely recognised as the benchmark for high quality hand
protection throughout the industry.
Consistency
of quality, coupled with an old fashioned attitude to customer
service, and an understanding that value for money is of
paramount importance, have allowed Jayco, an ISO9001:2008
approved company, now owned and managed by Peter Cooney, to develop a
reputation of which Jim would indeed be proud.
